Craving for Boijmans

A heartfelt reunion

Since 2019, one of Rotterdam’s cultural highlights, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, has been closed, leaving a void in the hearts of art lovers both locally and globally. The museum, cherished by many in the community, is now making a nostalgic return with a campaign called "Craving for Boijmans / Snakken naar Boijmans." This campaign, celebrating the museum’s 175th anniversary, centers around a striking symbol: a spray-painted heart.

The heart symbolises the current state of the museum building and the progress of its renovation, reflecting the passion and anticipation of the public as well as the ongoing transformation within the museum. From June 1 to July 7, 2024, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen will present "Craving for Boijmans / Snakken naar Boijmans." For five weeks only, the museum will open its doors for a special art tour, celebrating its 175th anniversary. During this event, visitors can experience the museum in its unique, transitional state.

Visitors will have the rare opportunity to explore the museum while it is still under construction. The art tour will guide them through the building, officially declared a construction site, allowing them to marvel at both the raw beauty of its architecture and its rich artistic heritage. In addition to the tours, there will be a special program for children, an open museum garden, and additional activities in the Henket Pavilion.

The "Craving for Boijmans" campaign aims to reconnect the museum with the community, offering a sneak peek into its future while honoring its storied past. This isn’t just a tour; it’s an immersive experience that rekindles the bond between the museum and its visitors, reminding everyone of the cultural treasure that will soon reopen.
